The cherry trees are blooming in the Kalmthout Arboretum

In the spring you can fully enjoy the arboretum garden. Follow the blossom route and walk under colorful clouds of blooming cherry trees. The collection of Arboretum Kalmthout contains many special, often rare and old specimens.

More than 60 years ago, Jelena and Robert De Belder planted the first cherry trees in Arboretum Kalmthout. They are now old and monumental ornamental cherries. Later they introduced many new, own selections. Due to the wide variety of Japanese cherry trees, they are in bloom at any time of spring. Signposts lead you past the most beautiful cherry trees in the spring garden.

The flowering period depends on the weather: the warmer, the earlier the flowering, but wind and late frost can cause a shorter flower festival. The color of the cherry blossom varies from light to dark pink or deep purple, to even greenish or radiant white.
