Breeding season: peace for vulnerable nature in the Kalmthoutse Heide

As spring arrives, nature in Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide awakens from its hibernation. It's busy in nature! Birds build their nests and deer prepare for the arrival of their calves. The forest, heathland and fens are a breeding ground for new life at this time, but at the same time nature is at its most vulnerable during the breeding season. That is why we would like to appeal to all our visitors to consciously deal with this delicate ecosystem. Together with the site managers, we ask for extra attention to the breeding season in the period from March 15 to June 30.

Route Ree, Mont Noir, Schaap and Duin, as well as the connecting path between those two routes via the Kambuusduinen, remain fully accessible. Some connecting paths (marked with footprints) are temporarily closed during the breeding season, but remain open outside this period.
