FIRST DAY - Exploring Kalmthout
Morning
Start your visit at the De Vroente entrance gate car park for your first discovery: the beautiful visitor centre. Here you will find the tourist information office, Visit Kalmthout, with numerous walking, cycling and regional products; on the other hand, there is the De Vroente, Sustainable Education Point, with beautiful exhibition spaces about, among other things, the history of the Kalmthoutse Heide. During weekends, public holidays and school holidays, you can also visit the Bee Expo “Honingsporen”.
Within walking distance of the visitor centre, you can check in at the charming Hotel Jerom for the next two nights.
Then you can choose a nice spot in the open-air and summer pop-up bar De Bosbar for a delicious local lunch.
Afternoon
Stretch your legs after lunch and set off on your first exploration of our beautiful natural surroundings. Take the kids along the hiking trail Dragonfly for a short 5-kilometre walk, where you can quickly enjoy the peace and quiet of the Putse Moer. Get amazed by the new fire and observation tower, which offers a 360° view of the unique natural surroundings.
For a longer trip you can opt to follow the hiking path Dune. Discover the diversity of the Kalmthoutse Heide on this 7.5-kilometre trail with its vast heathlands, valuable dune massifs and wet heath.
De Heihoeve or pop-up summer bar Aromas de los Andes are great places to end a refreshing walk and fill your rumbling stomach.
SECOND DAY - Boundless biking fun
After a
hearty and healthy breakfast at Hotel Jerom, hop on your bike for a challenging
day trip.
Purchase
the “Trap en Ontsnap” bike escape tour at Visit Kalmthout and discover the
secret 51 km escape route through Kalmthout and Brasschaat with the help of
puzzles, riddles and lots of detective work.
Along the
way you will come across several nice restaurants and cafés to quench your
thirst and satisfy your hunger.
End the day
with a delicious dinner at Sensi, with fresh, original dishes in a cosy
setting. Take a seat in the beautiful building with its adjoining terrace and
be surprised by the atypical culinary dishes or creative food sharing.
THIRD DAY - Nature at its best
Morning
After a wonderful night's sleep and a delicious breakfast, enjoy a beautiful nature walk in Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide. Visit Kalmthout offers a nice range of guided nature walks; there is something for everyone to enjoy!
In the afternoon, you can visit Rozantiek for a delicious lunch. The building is located right next to Kalmthout station and exudes history. Choose a spot in the cool interior or outside on the terrace for a healthy lunch.

Located near this lunch spot you will discover the Arboretum Kalmthout, a true paradise for plant lovers, with special specimens from all over the world. Each season offers something new to discover, from snowdrops in early spring to witch hazels in the cold months and a sea of flowers in summer. Don't forget to visit the gift shop and plant centre and enjoy a snack or drink in the cosy cafeteria or on the terrace. For the little ones, there is always a treasure hunt to take part in.
